Service Learning-New Orleans

Over spring break 2010 I went to New Orleans to help rebuild houses that were damaged from Hurricane Katrina. Through Volunteer UCF there is a program called Alternative Spring Break. This is who I traveled to New Orleans with. It had been 4.5 years since the hurricane but the city is still in desperate need of help and repairs. This was a really great and rewarding experience to participate in. We completed a total of 36hours of working. It was great when we got to meet the homeowners whose houses we were fixing. It made it so much more worthwhile to see the looks on their faces. If I wasn't graduating Alternative Spring Break is something that I would participate in again.
