Service Learning!!!!

So, Take Back the Night is rapidly approaching and I've gotten a lot done but there's definitely still a lot more to be done! So far I've booked all of the speakers with the exception of 2 spoken word artists. And all of the people to come and table at our event have been confirmed with the exception of two local agencies.

Fliers have been ordered and should be in by next week which meas we start distributing next week! I still need to get a few things put together like food, banners, statistics, etc.

That's where we're at right now. It's coming along and should be fantastic!

SL VOX

I have been working with Cristina and our president Abigail to attain financial allocation for our members to attend the Civil Liberties and Public Policies conference in Massachusetts. We had some issues with SGA but we were given a second chance and are preparing for our second allocation request. We have also been working on getting donations and promotion of our Let's Talk About Sex benefit at the end of March!

Service Learning - Animal Safehouse

This week for my service learning project, I tabled outside of the Student Union for four hours on Tuesday. Leandra Preston also made it known to the Animal Safehouse members and Women's Studies Program students that one of the Orlando pet shelters was being closed for renovations and that the animals needed to be adopted and/or fostered and those remaining would be euthanized. I sent out Facebook messages and made phone calls to any of my friends or classmates that might have been able to take on the foster care of an animal for a few weeks. I am unable to foster animals because pets are not allowed in my apartment complex, but trying to find homes for animals with other people has gone relatively well.
